lol it’s great how everyone reblogging this completely missed Jason’s fucking point.
We all know Gawker is a cesspit of hell that should have been shut down ages ago. But Gawker *didn’t* shut down because their shit content caused a drop in readership or any changes in regulation/legal oversight over releasing sex tapes/publicly outing people.
Jason’s point is Gawker shut down because a billionaire didn’t like it and threw money at it until it shut down. You all get up in arms over the 1% having so much fucking control and power and then are too damned blind to realise the one time you like what they’re doing could just as easily be abused by them to shut down shit you do like.
He’s not talking about Gawker, he’s talking about the inequalities of civil law.
